Favourite YT Channels

In no particular order - these are my favourite YT channels with excellent, frequent instructional content.

What's to like?: Everything! Will's style is very informative, casual, to the point and can-do.

He posts about twice a week giving superb advice on every step of your production journey. The quality of his videos are top notch clearly with a team supporting him. Subscribe!

Commercial Content: Will has a range of courses and Sample Packs. I couldn't recommend them more. I have taken his radio-ready package initially which consists of a series of his courses including taking you through music theory, idea generation and extensive direction on mixing.

The jewel in his crown is his Accelerator course. This is about as in-depth as you need to get to accelerate your music production.

  • It takes you over similar content to the radio ready program but in a lot more detail, and hence is recommended when you have been producing for a little time.

  • You are also set assignments and are given really useful personal feedback, including a one on one coaching call.

  • By the end of it I had produced 3 tracks through the exercises and they were dramatically better than anything I had done before and really gave me the confidence to start enjoying every aspect of music production.

  • Additionally he runs twice weekly zoom calls as part of the course where you get to ask anything you want along with the other students of the course. These are all recorded and categorised, and include live walkthroughs of techniques. You get access to the back catalogue of these calls, sorted by their content, with over 2500+ and rapidly growing videoed discussions and demos on every topic you want. For instance, want to know whether you should use trackspacer or shaperbox? That has been discussed about 10 times and you can go to every video and see what was said. A hugely valuable resource that is better than Youtube in many ways.

  • Many many many of his students have been signed by labels, minor and major and more are hitting this goal every day.

Key to his success for all courses, apart from being a really nice guy along with Neel Eriskson, his amazing coaching partner is the private facebook forum you get to join with over 1500 fellow pupils on it. This is super active, incredibly supportive, and includes ongoing track feedback from the team and each other. Many describe the forum as their favourite place on the internet and for very good reason.

What's to like?: Everything! Jules is an incredible producer producing my kind of music. His standout thing is that he livestreams his productions and I love the fact that they look almost completely unscripted / natural. Therefore it is like watching an accelerated view of your own decision processes in the order you are likely to do them

The Channel's Commercial Content (Courses & Sample Packs): (To illustrate his pedigree) Jules produces course for Production Music Live (e.g. here), as well as his own range of excellent quality sample packs and presets. Highly recommended.

What's to like?: Everything! I have never seen a YouTube presenter get to the point so quickly. ZERO faff. Excellent, intelligent content delivered very quickly. I get about three times as much out of 10 mins of Alice's videos as any other I watch on the internet. She makes my kind of music as well and goes that extra mile to make the videos as informative as possible with diagrams and theoretical summaries to really get the point across. Top stuff, never miss a vid.

Commercial Content

A growing range of courses and super high quality sample packs and preset libraries. I have some of her sample packs and presets and they are my gotos produced with as much care and precision as her videos. I have not taken her courses but I would put good money on them being first rate / money well spent.

What's to like?: Everything! Oscar is probably the best music instructor on the internet in terms of clarity and ease of presentation. He shot up to over 150k subs in a matter of months when he started posting regular content and his well deserved soaring fame is because the content is so well delivered. Again he produces my kind of music. His content tends to focus on the how to of many different elements of production vs long production demos (though some of those there as well). I would never miss a video.

Commercial Content

He has a growing number of online courses. Not done any of these directly, but check out even a couple of his YT vids and if you are in the market for a course, I am sure you would be comfortable betting that his content is going to be top notch.

What's to like?: Everything! Super hi quality videos. I have no idea why his subs are so low (just over 9k at the time of writing). He is as good as every other person on this list. Really well thought out topics and high production values for his videos. Again he makes my type of music and he is always releasing chart topping tracks to boot. Learning from a real pro.

Commercial Content

Mainly a Patreon channel from what I can tell where you can get project files etc to accompany his videos. I would love him to make a course as I am sure it would be great content, though I expect a lot of his time is going into making his own commercial tracks.

What's to like?: Everything! One of the most prolific YT channels for music production content. Content is always intelligently thought through, generous in its details and delivered with clarity and warmth.

The Channel's Commercial Content (Courses): Check out their website for more info. A range of courses, from the basics through to mixing and mastering. I have not done any directly, but from the content of their YT videos I would bet that they are excellent.
